You will be hired by NMSU as a Temporary Non-Exempt Employee.
Your RETA Instructor Account
Register as a RETA instructor at the website (http://reta.nmsu.edu).
Write down your Username and Password.
Go to RETA Workshops Home to login to your RETA Account.
Enter your Username and Password to login to your RETA Account.
Keep your contact information current in your RETA account.
Workshop Administrative Duties
In the RETA database
If you are facilitating an established Open Light group of teachers, who regularly attend the sessions,
then email Susie B. (suceppib@nmsu.edu). An Open Light workshop group will be established with you as the assigned instructor(s).
This workshop group will appear in your account as Open Light District Name.
OR if you are facilitating a series of open workshops, and whomever attends is there, then you just Schedule A Workshop.
Schedule your Open Light Workshops.
Maintain a current schedule of workshops.
Take attendance online for every workshop/session either during or after in the RETA database.
Have participants complete workshop evaluations via database.
ALL workshop attendance and evaluation information must be entered in the database, before logged and invoiced hours are approved for payment.
After you are hired by NMSU
Workshop/Services Payment Procedures
Establish your NMSU Banner Account (my.nmsu.edu). Write down your User Name and Password. This account is different from your RETA database account.
You must log ALL workshop, webinar, and professional development hours on the NMSU Banner system, in order to get paid.
You get paid $20/hour to attend webinars and $275 (apprentice) and $375 (instructor) for workshop hours. ($275 = log 13.75 hours)
For Professional Development days, you will be paid $100/day. ($100= log 5 hours)
Log Banner hours and enter workshop information in the Comments section.
Remember to hit the Submit button!
Complete information on workshop invoices.
Sign the workshop invoice. Do not enter Social Security number.
Fax (575-646-2044) or mail RETA workshop invoices Attn: Lori Ditmore.
Cross-reference on workshop invoice how hours are logged on Banner system.
You do not have to submit original paperwork.
Please keep copies of all paperwork.
To troubleshoot accessing your Banner Account (my.nmsu.edu) call John at 575.646.4108.
2 week pay periods. You are paid on a lag.
• May 1 – May 15 (payment May 31)
• May 16 – May 31 (payment June 15)
Payments include $16% benefits.
You have 3 business days after the end of the pay period to log and submit hours.
• May 1 -15 pay period May 18 submission deadline (payment May 31)
• May 16 -31 pay period June 5 submission deadline (payment June 15)
NMSU Direct Deposit is required for ALL RETA instructors. You can set up Direct Deposit at https://www.nmsu.edu/~payroll/Forms/DD_step1.htm.
View and track payments online via your Banner account.
Travel Reimbursement
Mileage will be paid at 44.5 cents/mile.
Make sure you complete and sign the Reimbursement Voucher in Blue Ink.

Travel reimbursement for mileage and per diem (if applicable) is paid with a check via Direct Deposit.
Travel reimbursements are NOT logged on Banner and are NOT paid on the 2-week salary schedule.
If Travel Reimbursement checks will be mailed then you should receive it via mail within a month of faxing the paperwork.
Please email (lditmore@nmsu.edu) or call Lori (800.821.1574 or 575.646.8227) if a travel check takes longer than a month to get to you. She will follow up on it.
